Abstract. A key ingredient for achieving real-time interaction in visualization while manipulating large geometries is to use multi-resolution data structures and algorithms. In this talk I shall survey several hierarchical data structures for static and time-dependent geometries, including the use of directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) and wavelets, to achieve adaptive and progressive, real-time visualization.
