Geometric Singular Perturbation Methods and Their Applications

Abstract. Perturbation methods are concerned with approximating to the solutions of equations with a small parameter. The equations include algebraic equations, ordinary and partial differential equations, boundary problems, and integral equations. This talk will provide a review on the historical development of perturbation techniques and an introduction to geometric singular perturbation methods together with several examples and applications.
